Hello there!
Welcome to the official PeelStock 2011 website!
Peelstock 2011 marks the sixth year of the increasingly popular annual music festival,
focussing almost entirely on Manx artists, with the event continuing to go from
strength to strength. The event is organised by the Tommy Clucas Memorial
Fund, being a small number of Tom's many friends and family. Peelstock is
run as a fund raiser, but more importantly also as a community event which will
hopefully continue year on year as tribute to Tom’s memory.
The event has established itself as one of the highlights of the local music calendar,
with some of the island’s top music acts having played in previous years.
Peelstock 2010
saw further forward steps for the organisers, with the festival stage, provided
by Horizon Scaffolding and A3 Marquees, in the
centre of Peel AFC’s football pitch providing the perfect setting. Lighting specialists
ELS
provided the event with an amazing light show, evident on some of the photos above,
which topped off the brilliant sound provided by the acts and soundman Anglin
Buttimore.
ELS
have promised that festival-goers at this year’s event will be treated to another
level in lighting, coupled with advanced sound to continue to push the festival
experience upwards. After the success of previous years, and the significant interest
from bands looking to play the event, the organisers have added a second day
to this year’s event, meaning the most music ever on offer at Peelstock. This year’s
lineup, across Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th July,
maintains the aim of previous years of showcasing a blend of established acts and
new faces, with gates opening at 12.30pm on both days and music
kicking off shortly after.
We’ve been graced with the continued enthusiasm of 3FM who have again
provided invaluable advice in respect of promotion and organisation, as well as
the significantly valued air-time support. We’re also extremely pleased that ELS, Horizon Scaffolding
and
The Creek Inn, who have supported us every year since the
event kicked off, are continuing to provide the support without which the event
would not be possible.
This year we also welcome additional support from A3 Marquees
who came onboard last year, providing cover for the stage and (some would say more
importantly!) the bar. This year, A3 will also be providing marquees
on the pitch for festival-goers which can be used for cover in the event of a shower.
With any luck, there’ll be no need for them but thanks to A3 there’ll
be no need to worry about the forecast.
As always, The Creek Inn
have generously arranged the alcohol and music licence for the on site licenced
bar, with the bar manned by (experienced!!) volunteers and all bar profits
going to the Fund.
There will be food stalls, although picnics are welcome (please, no glass or alcohol
is permitted into the event due to licensing laws). There is plenty of grass for
the kids to play, so families will be able to enjoy the event. This year, we will
also be introducing a family area with kids entertainment on the Sunday, although
both days are aimed at being family friendly events.
With the second day added, we hope that the camping facilities available in Peel
(at Peel campsite) will encourage some of you to make a weekend of it in the West.
The event provides a great opportunity for you to see a range of top local music
acts in a green outdoor environment with staging, sound and light provided by the
islands leading professionals.
Hope to see you all there!
